At D2i Management, we are always looking at new (and of course better!) ways of doing things – after all, ‘If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always got’.
As a result, we’ve made our London Office as green as possible – with the installation of 1.2Kw of Solar Panels, batteries and associated equipment.
Now that might not sound like a lot for an office, but in case you didn’t know, our London office is actually a 57′ Dutch Barge, moored in West London. As a back-up, she is connected to 240v shoreline power, but the aim is to minimise our reliance on ‘dirty power’ and improve our environment.

We are achieving this by utilising a system that has a battery bank charged by solar as it’s primary power source, switching to grid-power when the internal battery voltage drops below a pre-set level, then seamlessly reconnecting to solar power when the battery voltage reaches significant charge again.
One of our ‘horizon’ projects is to look at how you can retro-fit a hybrid drive system to an existing vessel – watch this space!
